ACCESSIBILITY AT THE MUSEUM

While we try to make the site as accessible as possible, the Museum is an actual historic industrial site and not all areas are yet wheelchair accessible. However, we are improving this and trying to make as much of the site accessible as possible.

The Britannia Mine Museum IS wheelchair accessible in the following areas:

1. The Beaty Lundin Visitor Centre - includes the theatre, interactive exhibits and "Natures Art" mineral gallery.

2. The Britannia A-Z Exhibit Hall - historical exhibits of Britannia and pioneers.

3. The Gold Panning Pavilion - keep the REAL gold you find!

4. Washrooms and the Company Store - stocked full of gems and gifts.

5. The parking lot includes 3 spots for people with disabilities. This is located to the left of the entrance plaza and leading to the Company Store and ticket window.

The following areas are NOT wheelchair accessible; however accessible by a walker in some cases:

1. The underground guided tour into the mine tunnel (there are 48 stairs leading to this activity), and uneven gravel throughout.

2. Access to the historic Mill building is possible with a walker, by way of uneven gravel not pavement.

3. The Machine Shop by way of pavement slabs and uneven gravel and a few stairs.

4. The Assay Building which houses our snack bar and movie hall of fame photo gallery by way of uneven gravel.
