Gold panning – it played a significant role in the formation of our province, but for the people actually following thegold rushes, it was far more likely to be a bust.

Give your students a glimpse of some of the realities faced by these prospectors in this ever-popular activity. There is gold in our troughs, but can your students find it?

What your students will see and do:

Instructors will help your students collect take-home gems like pyrite, amethyst and quartz by demonstrating this simple but important mining technique.
